Mayflower Nursery School, Green Bay, Wisconsin



The preschool teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team and functions as a co-teacher. The teacher will plan and implement the curriculum, and with active participation of other members of the teaching team, work with parents and assess the needs of individual children.


The position is part time and will include the teaching duty hours of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings, 9:30 AM to 12:00. Additional hours will include: daily preparation and clean up, field trips, staff meetings, board meetings, and special events.


The need is to have someone in this role as of September 1, 2013 with training dates, to be determined, in August 2013.

  1. Successful completion of an associate degree program in early childhood education OR one of the following:
  • Working towards the successful completion of an associate degree program in early childhood education
  • Completion of two courses for credit in early childhood education or its equivalent from an institution of higher education (Introduction to the Child Care Profession and Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher) or working towards the successful completion of the two courses
  • Certificate from The Registry indicating qualifications as a preschool teacher

2.  CPR (adult/child/infant) and first aid certified

3.  Completion of shaken baby and SIDS prevention training

4.  Willingness to complete a health examination within 30 days of hire

Employment is conditional upon completion of a Caregiver Background Check.



  • Familiar with Wisconsin Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers especially as related to the teaching and supervision of preschool aged children.
  • Experience working within a functional working team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and program.
  • Experience working with diverse populations. Bilingual preferred.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job, which include but are not limited to: lifting up to fifty pounds, sitting, standing, squatting, reaching, pushing, grasping, and other demands as needed.
  • Minimum of two courses in early childhood and one year of preschool experience, three to five year olds, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
