The following are brief descriptions of activities that will be happening during the school year. Please check you monthly calendar for dates, times and more information.
School Visits
Before the start of the school year, children and parents have an opportunity to have an individual visit to Mayflower. The child meets the teacher and sees the classroom. The short visit gives the child a chance to become familiar with the teachers and classroom with their parents before the first day of school.
Pumpkin Hunt
The Duck and Bunny classes meet at a local park in mid October. We take a walk through the woods while on our big pumpkin hunt followed by Halloween songs and time to enjoy the playground. This is an outing where parents or car pool drivers are asked to join in the fun and help keep an eye on the children.
Halloween Social
The children come dressed in costumes to parade through the classrooms and outside (weather permitting) soon after they arrive. Parents and families are welcome to stay to take pictures as the children parade. The children return to their classrooms for playtime, stories and a healthy snack.
Moms Morning at Mayflower and Dad’s Day at Mayflower
On both of the special mornings children have the opportunity to bring one of their parents to school. Parents have an opportunity to be a part of our morning circle as well as share a snack, an art project, and playtime with their child. If a parent is unable to attend, a grandparent, aunt, uncle or family friend is welcome.
Art Show
Mayflower students display their amazing works of art at an exhibit held during the fall parent teacher conferences.
Fun Night
Mayflower students and their families are invited to come to Mayflower for an exciting night of games and activities! Future students are also invited to attend Fun Night!
NEW Zoo Field Trip
The Duck and Bunny classes meet at the NEW Zoo in the spring. We tour the zoo in small groups reinforcing what we have learned about the animals in our classrooms. This is an outing where parents or car pool drivers are asked to join in the fun and help keep an eye on the children.
End of Year Celebration
We celebrate the end of the school year with a special musical program given by the children. All of our children are individually recognized during the celebration. A picnic lunch at St. James Park concludes the day. Parents, siblings, grandparents and other members of Mayflower families are welcome and encouraged to attend.
